about the roleJob OverviewThe Lead Architect plays a strategic and hands-on role in designing, integrating, and overseeing complex IT and smart city systems for digital transformation programs. This individual brings deep expertise in cloud platforms, IT infrastructure, IoT, and urban digital services to lead the development of scalable, secure, and future-ready architectures. You will collaborate with government entities, city developers, enterprises, and ecosystem partners to enable next-generation urban services.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Architecture Leadership
  • - Define the digital architecture vision and roadmap for enterprise and city-scale smart technology programs.
  • - Align architecture strategy with business objectives, digital transformation goals, and regulatory frameworks.
  • - Identify emerging technologies and assess their fit within the current architecture or for future investments.
Smart City Architecture
  • - Lead the architecture office for developing the Design (HLD & LLD) and integrate solutions across smart city verticals: smart mobility, public safety, e-governance, energy management, smart buildings, and citizen engagement platforms.
  • - Architect horizontal smart city platforms including IoT middleware, urban data lakes, API gateways, and AI/ML engines.
  • - Collaborate with urban planning, city operations, and policy stakeholders to ensure IT infrastructure aligns with physical city design.
Cloud and Hybrid Architecture
  • - Develop scalable, secure architectures leveraging cloud-native and hybrid cloud strategies.
  • - Lead enterprise-wide cloud adoption, migration planning, containerization, and cloud operations across Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • - Define cloud governance, cost optimization models, multitenancy, disaster recovery, and DevSecOps pipelines.
Infrastructure and Platform Engineering
  • - Design and oversee infrastructure layers including networking (SD-WAN, 5G, IPv6), compute, storage, cybersecurity, and edge computing.
  • - Guide data center modernization, virtualization, and platform integration projects.
  • - Collaborate with solution integrators, OEMs, and telcos on infrastructure implementation and integration.
Enterprise Integration & Data Architecture
  • - Define enterprise integration patterns (ESB, microservices, APIs) and data governance models.
  • - Architect city-wide data platforms incorporating real-time data ingestion, analytics, visualization, and reporting tools.
  • - Ensure interoperability between legacy systems and modern cloud-native environments.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • - Establish and enforce architectural governance frameworks, ensuring all solutions are compliant with national standards.
  • - Define and review security architecture, threat modeling, and identity & access management (IAM) policies.
  • - Conduct design reviews, audits, and technology assessments.
Program Support & Stakeholder Management
  • - Collaborate with project and program managers to align architecture with delivery timelines and milestones.
  • - Provide architectural input during bid proposals, solution's phases, and customer presentations.
  • - Engage with CIOs, CTOs, to define solution scope, ROI, and technical strategy.
Qualifications and ExperienceEducationBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.Certifications (preferred)TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Certified Architect, ITIL v4, CISSP, CCSP, PMP (optional but valuable).Professional ExperienceMinimum 10-15 years of IT architecture experience, with 5+ years in a lead or enterprise architect role. Proven delivery of large-scale cloud, smart city, or urban digital infrastructure projects. Strong experience in Middle East markets preferredKey Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Competencies
  • - Cloud-native architecture (Kubernetes, containers, microservices).
  • - Smart city frameworks (FIWARE, NGSI-LD, TM Forum).
  • - IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP), platform integration, and real-time analytics.
